This September brings a wide range of artists and bands to both Brighton and Folkestone via our friends at Melting Vinyl. We have live events highlighting all genres, from heartfelt folk to hard-hitting electropop. Whatever you’re into – we can’t wait to see you at one of this month’s shows.
Wednesday 4th September
Office For Personal Development + Battery Operated Orchestra at The Rossi Bar, Brighton.
Office For Personal Development – an energetically unconventional group from the south coast – joined by the captivating duo Battery Operated Orchestra. A night that merges the upbeat synths of the 80s with modern introspective lyrics to create a truly unique sound.

Sunday 8th September
Dawn Landes + special guest playing Komedia (studio), Brighton.
North Carolina based singer-songwriter, Dawn Landes, encompasses raw emotion and empowerment through folk ballads and anthemic storytelling. With seven albums, five eps, and songs in shows like Gossip Girl and House, her music is the perfect blend of honest songwriting and agile melodies. She is joined by Sylvie Lewis, whose music plays on a similar sense of emotion and introspection.

Wednesday 11th September
Gruff Rhys + special guest at Quarterhouse, Folkestone
The multitalented Gruff Rhys is a Welsh musician and icon in music since the 90s. Performing solo and in several bands, releasing a total of 25 albums, and somehow finding time to write a book – his music is a timeless and relatable pairing of classic instruments and a laid-back vocal approach.

Friday 13th September
Route 500 + Noah Yorke at The Prince Albert, Brighton
Brighton based Route 500 skillfully balances dreamy guitar melodies with nostalgic vocal tones to create a dynamic and introspective sound. They are now set to headline The Prince Albert with their debut album ‘Island Perimeter’ – joined by singer-songwriter Noah Yorke. The organic instrumentation and emotionally rich lyrics are the perfect addition to the lineup.

Wednesday 18th September (Sold Out)
Rhyley Walker + Jack Cooper playing The Prince Albert, Brighton
American singer-songwriter and guitarist – Rhyley Walker – pairs colourful instrumentation with poetically descriptive lyrics, stretching his creativity with multiple purely instrumental releases. Supported by songwriter and composer Jack cooper, who similarly, released an extraordinarily experimental instrumental album ‘Arrival’ in mid 2023.

Monday 23rd September
Ásgeir + special guest at Komedia (main stage), Brighton
Record breaking Icelandic artist Ásgeir, mixes electro pop synths with an emotive vocal performance. His music sits perfectly in the modern climate of introspective pop while still feeling upbeat and hopeful.

Friday 27th September
Pictish Trail + special guests playing The Green Door Store, Brighton
Pictish Trail (Lost Maps) – Scottish singer-songwriter with a knack for creating an unpredictable yet captivating atmosphere within his music. His 2022 album ‘Island Family’ features a mix of upbeat and anthemic rhythms alongside immersive vocals and synths.

Saturday 28th September
Acid Klaus + special guests at Hope & Ruin
Multi Talented songwriter, producer, musician, and DJ brings back aspects of nostalgic 80s sounds to create a contagious and rich energy. Headlining Hope & Ruin for a night of electro-experimentation.

Monday 30th September
Dominie Hooper + special guests playing The Greys, Brighton
Singer–songwriter, session musician and multi-instrumentalist Dominie Hooper combines an empowering sense of emotion with a rock infused folk sound. Her latest release ‘Hastings’ showcases autobiographical lyrics that immediately connect the listener to the story being told.
