#ColneBlues: Festival Cancellation
It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the cancellation of the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival in Colne during the summer of 2021.
This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, but we trust you can understand the impossible predicament the organisers are facing during these uncertain times.
Let’s keep this award winning festival where it belongs: in the hearts of everyone connected through the blues in Colne.
Here’s an extract from the official festival press release:
The 2021 Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival in Colne, Lancashire has been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
This legendary festival was due to take place over bank holiday weekend, 27th – 29th August 2021 headlined by Band Of Friends, Kyla Brox, Layla Zoe, Davy Knowles, Mike Farris & more.
Naomi Crewe, Colne Town Council’s Town Clerk (Colne Town Council has organised and managed the event since 2017), explains “It is with great regret that, in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we cannot find a way to guarantee the safety of our festival goers (often upwards of 25,000 people), venues, traders, performers and staff at this time. Although we love the blues festival here in Colne, we love and respect our residents and visitors more. It is the safety of everyone involved in the event which is the motivation for our decision.”
All ticket holders will be contacted directly by Friday 2nd April, and given a refund on their purchases.
Updates about this wonderful festival will also be posted regularly on the festival website and via the festival social media.
