MASTERLINK ‘ALL STARS’ JOIN UP REMOTELY TO PRODUCE A SUITABLY FUNKY COVER OF STONES CLASSIC
‘YOU CAN’T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT’

Masterlink Sessions have become noted for their impressive series of ‘live room’ performances with selected guest artists from the world of soul, funk, blues, rootsy rock and more.

Not to be stymied by social distancing guidelines, the studio house band – ‘Redtenbacher’s Funkestra’ (‘The best studio house band in Europe’ according to Jo Harman) – recorded their parts via their home ‘studios’, which in some cases were their smart phones!, and teamed up with a whole array of international vocalists to produce the first ever ‘remote’ Masterlink session.

‘Not to be defeated by the virus, we got everybody to video themselves recording their parts at home and our two Masterlink ‘secret weapons’ – videographer Leo Mansell and audio engineer James Welch – then knitted it all together, as only they can’ advised ringmaster Stefan Redtenbacher, the Collective’s producer/bandleader/arranger and bass player.

‘We called up some of our favourite available vocalists who had appeared in recent live Masterlink videos, pre-lockdown, and everybody entered into the spirit of it and this is the result’ he continued.

The video has attracted several thousand Facebook views within a matter of hours and the song itself can be purchased on Bandcamp with proceeds going to the ‘Save The Children Covid -19 appeal’. Click here to purchase on Bandcamp.
