Big I Am

Matt Pearce & The Mutiny are proud to premiere a brand-new video for ‘Scarecrowing’: a track taken from a double A-side single, drawn from the forthcoming debut album ‘Gotta Get Home; (to be released on 3rd May on Mutinear Records).

“I’m very excited that on April 19th, it’s finally time to release my music into the wild!“ says Matt, gleefully, “Get ready for a double A ‘single’ of two of my fave songs off the album, which between them show the funky, bluesy and soulful sides of what I do.”

“I also had a blast filming the performance video for ‘Scarecrowing’ at London’s legendary Half Moon venue in Putney, aided and abetted by my trusty Mutineers. Roll on May the 3rd album release day!”

‘Scarecrowing’ grabs you right from the off with its punchy bassline and bluesy wailing guitar hook, whilst Matt’s just-as-bluesey vocals make this original song a cracking blend of modern blues and classic. As for the guitar solos, they give acclaimed axeman Matt Pearce a chance to show his virtuosity: skill honed as a member of successful hard rockers Voodoo Six Now, Matt Pearce has committed to lead a musical mutiny, very different from his ongoing work with V6.

Listen to the track and you’ll hear the spirit of many a bluesman given a fresh outing with modern talent: echoes of bands Matt loved, growing up and learning his craft, like The Stones, Led Zep; Free, and early ZZ Top. “Yeah, I was captivated by their relentless rock ‘n’ roll spirit,” he says, “but it was the rhythmic grooves in their funkiest tunes that I also loved. These bands had soul.” This comes alive in Matt Pearce & The Mutiny, infuses the band’s performance, and can be heard loud and kicking as the band goes ‘Scarecrowing’.

Matt’s passionate about his first solo project, for which he’s been songwriter, singer and musician, also drawing together a great band, and self-producing and publishing the material. He reckons you could call it a ‘Funky Soul-a-delic Blues Rock Jam Thing’, or just a seriously funky blues band. Like the Black Crowes playing Prince songs, or vice versa!

Released as a double A-side, ‘Scarecrowing’ is partnered with ‘Set Me Free’, The single’s flipside ‘Set Me Free’ won Classic Rock Tracks Of The Week and is currently receiving heavy playlist rotation on Planet Rock.

Check out’ Scarecrowing’ for a strong shot of blues, spiced with funk, swagger and sense of musicians really revelling, as they hand out fresh, funky musical moonshine. It’s a great taste of ‘Gotta Get Home’ and will leave you thirsting for more, so watch for the album’s release at the start of May.
